KTG Construction Group designs and builds rear and side extensions that feel like a natural part of your existing home, not an add-on.
We are a family-owned, registered builder (CDB-U 69640), working with homeowners, architects and designers across Melbourne, Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula since 2016.
Popular extension projects
- Open-plan kitchen and living: knock through and extend for a light-filled family space.
- Indoor-outdoor living: large openings that connect your new living area to a deck or garden.
- Extra bedrooms and ensuites: room for a growing family or guests.
- Home office or studio: a quiet space separate from daily traffic.
How we make the new part match the old
The best extensions are the ones you can't spot from the street. We match rooflines, floor levels, brickwork and cladding where that suits the house, or create a deliberate contrast when the design calls for it. Either way, the junction between old and new is where the craftsmanship shows, and it's where we take the most care.

Know your costs before your plans are final
With our Paid as Consultant (PAC) process, we work with you and your designer before the plans are locked in. You get early cost guidance and buildability advice, so your extension is designed to your budget instead of redesigned after it comes back too high.

Frequently asked questions
Should I extend or add a second storey?
It depends on your block size, how much garden you want to keep and what your council allows. On a smaller block, going up often makes more sense. See second storey additions.
Do I need a permit for an extension?
An extension needs a building permit. Some properties also need a planning permit, depending on zoning, site coverage and any overlays. We'll help you check before design is finalised.
Can we live in the house during the build?
Often yes, for at least part of the build, because the main structure stays in place. We'll plan the stage when the new section is joined to the old so the disruption is short and predictable.
How long does an extension take?
It depends on size, complexity and permit timeframes. We'll give you a realistic program during planning and keep you updated as the build progresses.
